Jacqueline Wilson

Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, but spent most of her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first “novel” when she was nine, filling countless Woolworths’ exercise books as she grew up. Since having her daughter, Emma, she has been writing full time.

Her insightful and emotionally challenging books not only stretch reading ability, but give young readers a glimpse into many kinds of lives. Smart girls, strong girls, bad girls, brave girls. Girls keeping their families going, girls trying to get away… Jacqueline Wilson’s written about them all! These powerful stories of plucky girls in difficult circumstances won’t fail to strike a chord.

She has written over 70 best-selling books, and several have even been adapted for TV – most famously The Story of Tracy Beaker. Her signing sessions attract huge crowds of fans and last for hours! Over 25 million copies of her books have now been sold in the UK alone.

In 2007 Jacky Daydream was published, an inspirational true story of how a shy schoolgirl became a superstar author. This was followed by My Secret Diary, a captivating account of Jacky’s teenage years.

In June 2002 Jacqueline was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools, and she was the Children’s Laureate from 2005-2007. She also became a Dame in December 2007.

   Very good read, it will help children whose parents have split up get through those kind of tough times, and even though my parents did not split up at all, it still helped me understand that I need to enjoy every moment and learn to love the life I am living. Andy also had to learn these things, and got a very special gift for coping so well with her problems: a half sister called Zoë. This book also has another very important lessons about friendships and how they don’t always and can’t always last forever, it shows that Andy’s old best friend couldn’t be her best friend forever and always. I like Paula and Graham, and the humour is fabulous! READ IT!!!

    This book is one of Jacqueline Wilson’s greatest books, I read this book in yr 5 lots of times and it was great! A emotional, exciting and funny book. Go on an exciting journey with Andrea and her sylvanian rabbit. When her parents are divorced she has no where to stay, but all Andrea really wants

    is to be back in Mullberry Cottage, happily with her mum, dad and sylvanian rabbit!

    I don’t really know why but I didn’t enjoy this book at all. I tried at least five times to read this and still I never could get to the end. I didn’t find this very good but that’s just my opinion of it.

    Andy really hasnt got used to her parents divorce and she cant seem to handle it. But in the end she accepts it and learns to be happy with it.

    The suitcase kid is an amazing book! i would give it 5 stars. this book should be read from children age 8-13. It is about a girl and her mum and dad have split up. she doesn’t know where to go. she is just basically living out of the suitcase.

    I love this book. Jacqueline Wilson is my ALL time fav author. Its a about a girl called Andy and about her travelling to one parent to another after they split up….

    Andy HATES her new stepfather who is nicknamed ‘hairy baboon’ in the story (his real name is Bill), she don’t like her step sister katie ethier

    She also don’t like Carrie her new Step mother who is pregnant and has two other kids ‘Crystal’ and ‘Zen’

    REALLY reccomend the book age range i suggest 8-99!

    I read this book at a very young age and fell in love with it. I love the way it is from the perspective from 10 year old Andrea, who likes to be called Andy, and talks of divorce and being part of a broken family. Jacqueline WIlson shares Andy’s inner most thoughts and fears and presents them to her young audience in a language they can relate to. Absolutely love this book!

    This bookis the funniest book I’ve ever read its exciting but sad at some parts but altogether it’s about a girl named andy whose parents have had a divorce.they all used to live at mulberry cottage.she wants everything to go back to how it was.

    I think the suitcase kid is an amazing book as it strongly states how much andrea wishes she could go back In time to erase the moment when her parents split.As she had flash backs of mulberry cottage I wondered how she felt about her parents not listening when they argued and I especially like how she’s got a very annoying half sister who she despises.i would recommend this greatly loved book to people who’s parents have split up and they feel alone or to people who enjoy reading books of family problems almost impossible to solve though in the end someone does!!

I AM A JACQUELINE WILSON FAN AND THIS BOOK IS ABOUT ANDY WHOS MUM AND DAD ARE DIVORCED BUT BOTH LOVE HER SO THEY BOTH WANT TO LOOK AFTER HER , ANDY HAS TO STAY WITH HER MUM ONE WEEK AND HER DAD ONE WEEK SOMETIMES SHE THINKS THE ONLY PERSON WHO LOVES HER AND ACTUALLY LISTENS TO HER IS HER TOY RABBIT: RADISH. OVERALL THIS IS A HEART WARMING BOOK AND ITS FOR 7+ AND I RATE IT 9/10

    I liked because it was so sad because she kept going bakewed and forwed to his mum and dads house . If I was here I would be so anoyed. The bit I liked was her little bunny teddy and they stayded in an beauterfull garden. But then she meets a eldery couple and they were realy nice. Then she found out that her Dads girlfriend was prenantin the end

    The suitcase kid was a book that I could really relate to, and that made me really appreciate the characters and the plot lines and the sensitivity of the story. Thats why I loved this book, because it really felt like it was being written by a child. You could approach all the insecurities like you can with a real child, and I think all children should read it.

     This is a story about a girl whose parents have split up and she has to keep going backwards and forwards to their houses. The parents were always arguing. She has a little teddy rabbit whose called Raddish, she always talks to him. It’s really sad when she leaves Raddish in the garden and goes back for him and he’s not there. When she finds Raddish she never goes anywhere without him. Excellent book.

     Its a fantastic book! It was sad when Andy missed her house, she went to visit Mulberry Cottage and then lost Raddish, her Sylvanian rabbit. But the ending was happy.
